Health News: Biotechnology

The Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center has developed an HDSS technique that can potentially grow tissue patching wounds and have recently found a regenerative medicine that can regrow tissue!

-Guys & Girls I couldn't be more excited about this!!!

According to Nasa it started out as a repair of resins in the field of the cosmos but recently they have developed research showing that it is possible for us to have a superior-quality gene in which growth factors in a simple reproducible process now shows its possible.

The method consists of spot seeding cells in a Petri dish but without the need of extracellular matrix components. (Health, Medicine & Biotechnology [High-Quality Tissue Formation Method]: Lydon B. Johnson Space Center, Houston, Texas)  Cells incubated to allow attachment and afterwards the culture is rinsed in a medium to remove unattached cells and a growth medium is then added for periphery of the spot to proliferate and differentiate outward from the center cells.  It is proposed that these 2D stacking structure could be used to produce 3D tissue or grow possibly tissue for new hearts and organs along with other 3D tissues.

"By forming tissue using this method, the technology enables the creation of unique models for research and development, and perhaps even regenerative medicine.  For instance, for basic research and development, the study of mechanistic pathways becomes possible.  This technology can also be used as an in-vitro tissue model for drug screening and toxicology testing in the pharmaceutical development field.  The HDSS method may be advantageous for high-throughput screening assays where a large volume of screenings is done simultaneously."
